Brave the Chagres River’s wild rapids, raft through untamed jungle, and encounter tropical wildlife in this epic Panamanian odyssey.
Description
Experience an exhilarating white-water rafting adventure through the untamed beauty of Chagres National Park, just a stone’s throw from Panama City. This thrilling journey down the Chagres River, with its Class II to Class III rapids, offers an electrifying experience for both adventurers and nature enthusiasts.
Your day begins early at 5:00 A.M., with a pickup from Panama City followed by a scenic drive to the remote village of San Cristobal. After a light breakfast, immerse yourself in the jungle with a hike leading to the Piedras River. Depending on the water levels, your rafting adventure will commence here, guiding you through shallow spots and exhilarating rapids.
At around 11:00 A.M., the real excitement unfolds as you dive into a five-hour rafting expedition through the pristine wilderness of the Chagres River, culminating at Madden Lake. Along the way, marvel at the rich tapestry of tropical flora and fauna, with chances to spot monkeys, sloths, toucans, and more.
Savor a traditional meal on the riverbank and engage with Embera indigenous communities as you traverse this lush protected ecosystem. Your adventure concludes with a motorized canoe ride to the nearest road, where a private vehicle will return you to Panama City by 7:00 P.M. For an even deeper experience, combine this with an Indigenous Immersion in a traditional Emberá community.
