Introduction
Immerse yourself in the tropical rainforest of the Panama Canal, a 500-year-old historic trail with colonial cobblestone sections in Soberania National Park.
Description
This jungle adventure begins with an early morning pick up in a comfortable transportation to the Gamboa public dock in company with your specialist guide. You will be welcomed by the famous jungle wake up call: the majestic sound of the howler monkeys, the caretakers of tropical Panamanian land. At 6:30 a.m. a boat will pick you up on the dock and take you on a 10 minute ride to the beginning of the trail, Venta de Cruces.
The walking begins for a trail that extends for 7.4 miles (12 km) passing between the cobblestones paths, narrow stone carcaves, giant Cuipo trees, a magnificent diversity of mushrooms in every corner, species of birds and animals. Along the way, the guide will tell stories, facts and make strategic stops on pre inspected areas for the perfect picture and will be encouraged to hug the 6 feet wide Cuipo tree.
You will observe how the jungle scenery changes thorugh the hours, the tree canopy opens up and then closes down again creating a sometimes mental challenge for the adventurous of heart.
Finally, the trail comes to an end around 1:00 p.m. and you will be met by one of Ogaya’s team members with cold beverages, a nutritious lunch and the satisfaction of a day spent in nature’s heart. Following this rest time, a comfortable transportation will take you back to your hotel with so many stories to tell.
